Winery Background and History

Maison Ruinart, founded in 1729 in Reims by Nicolas Ruinart, is recognized as the world’s oldest Champagne house, exclusively devoted to sparkling wine  . Renowned for its historic cellars carved into chalk pits, Ruinart has built a legacy of elegance and craftsmanship over nearly three centuries  .

Producer and Wine Maker

The historic Dom Ruinart Rosé is meticulously crafted by Cellar Master Frédéric Panaïotis and his team, following a rigorous tasting and blending protocol. Their expertise curates vintage-dated rosés that exemplify freshness, finesse, and aromatic complexity  .

Vineyards and Micro Climate

The blend comprises 85% Grand Cru Chardonnay sourced from Côte des Blancs villages (Cramant, Avize, Chouilly, Mesnil‑sur‑Oger) and Sillery in Montagne de Reims, plus 15% Pinot Noir from Aÿ Grand Cru  . The region’s chalky soils, cool maritime climate, and midday temperature variation ensure balanced ripening and vibrant acidity.

Vinification & Aging Methods

Grapes are hand-harvested. Chardonnay and red-pressed Pinot Noir are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by malolactic fermentation  . The wine rests on lees for at least 11 years before disgorgement in 2018 with dosage at 4 g/L, showcasing Ruinart’s vintage aging precision  .

Tasting notes

The wine reveals a delicate salmon-gold hue with raspberry highlights  . On the nose, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, blood orange, kumquat, violet, peony, and oyster shell notes weave together  . The palate is silky and enveloping, with pomegranate, red currant, saline minerality, delicate bitterness, and a persistent, elegant effervescence  .

Food & Wine Pairing

Chef Valérie Radou recommends oily fish or white meat dishes with warm spices, citrus, and vegetables like squash and carrot  . It also complements oysters, shellfish, sushi, foie gras, roasted chicken, and creamy cheeses  .

Service Methods and Temperatures

Serve at 10–12 °C in tulip-shaped or wide white wine glasses to capture aromatic richness and mousse  . No decanting needed; gentle breathing after pour enhances expression  .

Storage and Aging Potential

Under ideal conditions (7–18 °C, >70 % humidity, darkness), this Champagne will continue developing over the next 5–10 years, gaining honeyed, nutty, tertiary complexity while maintaining its elegance  .
