Glen Moray Elgin Heritage 12 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Glen Moray Elgin Heritage 12 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Background & History
Glen Moray Distillery is located in Elgin, at the heart of Speyside, Scotland. Established in 1897 on the site of the former West Brewery, the distillery has developed a reputation for producing approachable, fruit-driven Speyside single malts. Glen Moray has also built considerable experience with different cask types and finishing techniques, although the 12 Year Old represents the more traditional side of the house style.
Producer & Whisky Maker
Produced and bottled by Glen Moray Distillery in Elgin. The 12 Year Old belongs to the Elgin Heritage collection, designed to showcase the distillery's traditional Speyside character through age-stated expressions.

The Whisky
A classic, approachable Speyside single malt balancing fruit, vanilla, gentle sweetness and oak. The 12-year maturation gives it noticeably more depth and oak influence than the entry-level Elgin Classic while retaining Glen Moray's soft and accessible house style.
Age Statement
12 Years Old
ABV
40% ABV for the standard Elgin Heritage bottling.
Note: Glen Moray also produces a Signature 12 Year Old Travel Retail expression at 48% ABV, so the two should not be confused.
Maturation
Matured entirely for 12 years in carefully selected American oak casks. Rather than using a secondary wine-cask finish, the whisky relies on extended American oak maturation to develop its vanilla, fruit and toasted-oak profile.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Polished gold.
Nose: Rich and gently floral, with vanilla toffee, berry fruits and a soft underlying malt sweetness.
Palate: Smooth and rounded with creamy vanilla, toasted oak and darker berry fruit. Sweetness is balanced by mild oak spice, giving the whisky more structure than the younger Glen Moray expressions.
Finish: Smooth and satisfying, with lingering vanilla, sweet oak and gentle spice.
Food Pairing
Works particularly well with mature Cheddar, Comté, Gouda, roasted nuts, charcuterie, smoked salmon and lightly grilled meats. For dessert pairings, vanilla crème brûlée, apple tart, shortbread or milk chocolate complement the whisky's vanilla and fruit character particularly well.
Service Methods
Best served at approximately 18–20°C. For tasting, pour 25–30 ml into a Glencairn or other tulip-shaped whisky glass. Taste it neat first, then optionally add a few drops of still water to open the fruit and vanilla aromas. It can also be served over a single large ice cube for a more relaxed drinking style.
Storage & Ageing Potential
Store upright in a cool, dark environment away from direct sunlight and major temperature fluctuations. Unlike wine, whisky does not continue to mature once bottled. An unopened bottle can remain in excellent condition for decades when properly stored. Once opened, oxidation becomes more noticeable as the bottle empties; for best quality, avoid leaving a nearly empty bottle for extended periods.
