The Glenrothes 15 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
The Glenrothes 15 Years Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Distillery Background & History
The Glenrothes Distillery was founded in 1879 in the heart of Speyside, beside the Burn of Rothes. From the beginning, it was designed to produce elegant, fruit-driven spirit rather than heavy, peated whisky. Traditionally, Glenrothes built its reputation around vintage releases instead of age statements, a rare approach in Scotch whisky. In recent years, the distillery reintroduced core age statements, including the 15 Years Old, to showcase consistency and maturity while staying true to its refined Speyside DNA.
Producer & Whisky Maker
The Glenrothes is currently under the ownership of Edrington, one of Scotland’s most respected whisky groups. The whisky-making philosophy focuses on purity of spirit, slow fermentation, and careful wood management. The 15 Years Old reflects the house style curated by the master whisky team: balancing natural sweetness, gentle spice, and layered fruit without overpowering oak influence.
Distillery & Water Source
Located in Rothes, Speyside, the distillery draws its water from natural springs connected to the River Spey system. Copper pot stills with tall necks encourage reflux, producing a lighter, cleaner spirit. This distillation style is key to Glenrothes’ hallmark elegance and allows extended aging without becoming overly woody.
The Whisky
This is a fully matured Speyside single malt aged for 15 years, bottled at 43% ABV, and presented in the modern Glenrothes house style. It sits stylistically between the 12 and 18 Years Old expressions, offering more depth and spice than the 12, while remaining fresher and more vibrant than the 18.

100% matured in seasoned sherry-seasoned oak casks, primarily European and American oak. The casks are selected to enhance sweetness, spice, and dried fruit character without masking the distillery’s natural fruit-driven spirit.
