The Macallan Harmony Collection Amber Meadow
The Macallan Harmony Collection Amber Meadow
Distillery Background and History
The Macallan Distillery — established in 1824 in Craigellachie, Scotland — is one of the most iconic producers of single malt Scotch whisky. Globally recognised for its lasting focus on wood management, craftsmanship and ageing excellence, The Macallan’s legacy is built on tradition and refinement. The “Harmony Collection” is a modern limited-edition series celebrating thematic collaborations and sensory inspirations, combining traditional whisky making with creative concepts such as landscape or flavour motifs.
Producer and Master Distiller
Produced by The Macallan under The Edrington Group. The Harmony Collection Amber Meadow was developed by The Macallan Whisky Mastery Team, led by Master Whisky Maker Steven Bremner, in collaboration with creative partners Stella and Mary McCartney, drawing inspiration from Scotland’s natural landscapes.
Raw Materials and Terroir
Made from 100% malted barley, pure Scottish water from the Speyside area, and traditional yeast strains. Whilst whisky does not express grape-style terroir, the barley, water quality and maturation climate contribute to texture, mouthfeel and balance.
Distillation Method and Still Type
Distilled in traditional copper pot stills typical of single malt Scotch whisky production — yielding a rich new-make spirit designed to interact deeply with oak during maturation.
Maturation and Cask Management
This NAS expression is matured in a curated combination of sherry-seasoned oak casks and first-fill American bourbon barrels. The sherry oak contributes dried fruit warmth and subtle spice, while the bourbon barrels impart vanilla sweetness and lighter orchard fruit influence. The result is a layered, balanced whisky that evokes amber fields and ripe fruit.
Tasting Notes
Colour: Bright amber evocative of a late summer meadow.
Nose: Rich orange and lemon zest with honeysuckle, vanilla, coconut and ripe barley aromas.
Palate: Warm oak and mellow citrus balanced with melon, classic scone, almond and delicate green tea notes.
Finish: Long, sweet and gently spiced, with lingering oak nuances and a subtle fruit sweetness.
Food Pairing and Consumption Style
Ideal with light fruit desserts (pear tart, honey-drizzled apricots), soft cheeses (Brie, Camembert), almond biscotti or shortbread biscuits. Also works as an elegant aperitif dram.
Service Methods and Temperatures
Serve neat in a tulip-shaped or Glencairn glass at room temperature (18–20 °C) to appreciate the citrus and meadow-inspired aromatics. A few drops of water can further open subtle floral and fruit layers.
Storage and Aging Potential
Store upright in a cool, dark environment away from direct sunlight and temperature fluctuations. Once bottled, the whisky’s character remains stable and does not evolve further.
Grain Composition and Percentage Used
100% malted barley, consistent with single malt Scotch whisky regulations.
ABV (Alcohol by Volume)
44.2% ABV.
